I bought my dad a Nintendo DS for Christmas.
The purchase wasn't a misguided attempt to improve our relationship - he asked for it.
My dad isn't a traditional gamer. He never played "Super Mario Brothers," and he isn't interested in playing action games or football simulations.
He just wants to train his brain.
My dad is a proud member of what Nintendo has dubbed the "Touch Generation." They are a new type of gamer group that is making video game culture more diverse than ever.
Before 2004, traditional gaming culture was stagnant. The same 20-somethings were playing the same mix of first person shooters, fighting games and violent shooters.
